Gary Sernovitz is a Managing Director of Lime Rock, an energy-focused private equity firm with $9 billion in investor capital commitments for three strategies: growth equity in exploration & production and oilfield service companies; the acquisition and operations of producing oil and gas properties; and growth equity in products and services companies in the new energy economy. He is responsible for the firm’s investor relations and business development efforts. He joined Lime Rock in 2014. He previously worked in the Investment Research Department of Goldman Sachs where he had primary coverage of the Latin American energy and chemical sectors.
Gary is also a writer on business, energy, and culture. Besides The Green and the Black: The Complete Story of the Shale Revolution, the Fight over Fracking, and the Future of Energy, published by St. Martin’s Press, he has written two novels as well as frequent essays and reviews for The New Yorker online, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and n+1, among others. He is a graduate of Cornell University (B.A.) and is based in Houston and New Orleans.
